Animax Broadcasts & Studio Musix Special

Anime cable channel ANIMAX announced at the Megaroad Launch Ceremony on Sunday (09/02) that it would be rebroadcasting 8 different Macross movies and OVA’s over the course of 8 weeks starting from October.

Oct. 7: Do You Remember Love?

Oct. 14: Macross 2 (eps 1-3)

Oct. 21: Macross 2 (eps 4-6)

Oct. 28: Macross Plus Movie Edition

Nov. 4: Macross 7 – The Galaxy is Calling Me!

Nov. 11: Macross Dynamite 7

Nov. 18: Macross Zero

Nov. 25: False Songstress/Wings of Farewell double feature

This was followed up by an announcement on Monday 09/03 – that Animax would also be broadcasting a 60min studio Macross Music event on October 7 (to be rebroadcast on Oct. 13 & 14) to commemorate the franchises 30th Anniversary. ‘Studio Musix’ is a series of monthly specials featuring anime-related artists.

The event will be hosted by May’n (‘May’n MC…ahahaha, I see what they did there), Aki Kyanchi (Corner MC) and Wynnie from See☆A (Assistant MC).

Artists will include Yoshiki Fukuyama (Basara), Chie Kajiura (Mylene), and Megumi Nakajima (Ranka) at the Animax studio, with Mari Iijima (Minmay) broadcasting in from her home studio in the US. Interestingly, May’n is listed as an MC rather than a performing artist.

60mins certainly doesn’t seem like anywhere near long enough, given the number of Macross artists that are coming together for this, let alone the fact that there’s not one, but THREE MC’s talking in between songs. Regardless, this will be the first time all the artists involved have gotten together since 2009’s Crossover Live, so it’s definately going to be a must-see special for any Macross fan.

On a side note, it’s good to see Yoshiki Fukuyama back in action and looking fairly healthy. His recent surgery does not seem to have impacted his mental state at all…..
