Doro Off IX

The 9th DORO OFF amateur modelers show was held at Asakusabashi, Tokyo again this year, on September 21-22.

Anecdotally, it was the most heavily attended event yet, with more people turning up to see the many custom models on display than even last year’s.

The usual Japanese SF staples were present – Gundam, Yamato, Macross – with Star Wars and western 80’s SF having a slightly increased presence than in years past.

As always, the customer builds stood out, with one modeler in particular even doing a Ma.K inspired take on Hisone & Masotan (Dragon Pilot).

Oshare Macross Popup Shop @ Daiwa Korinbo

The latest Oshare Macross popup shop was held from August 9-15 to celebrate, among other things, Basara Nikki”s birthday. At only 6-days, it was not only one of the shorter popup shops for the franchise to date but one of the most difficult to get to – being held on the opposite coast of the country in Ishikawa Prefecture!

Fortunately, Adrian was on the case, trekking coast to coast to be one of what could have only been a relatively small number of fans that made it to the event. He managed to grab the following photo gallery. Enjoy!

Carole & Tuesday Exhibition Cafe

Shinichiro Watanabe & Studio Bones’ latest anime, Carole & Tuesday, just had its first 12 episodes released internationally on Netflix. Here in Japan however, the show is already up to episode 19, has had its first concert (with a second planned for early October) and currently has its own collaboration cafe.

The Carole & Tuesday Exhibition Cafe is being held at Harajuku’s Area-Q Cafe (location for the previous two Walkure Cafes) from August 9 to September 1 and includes themed food, beverages, lineart, props, and lots and lots of music videos from the series.
